Mini Maker Faire Toronto

Globacore’s Ed Keeble will be sharing his Pong Prom installation at their booth.

 
Pong Prom is an art project designed to produce an experience which is at once competitive and collaborative. Participants don specially-designed hoodies and engage in a game of Pong by slow dancing with each other.

The project uses the Lilypad Arduino platform to control game play, run the display, and communicate between devices. Patches of conductive fabric on the shoulders, hips, and cuffs of the shirts are used to create a serial connection between the Arduinos. An accelerometer attached at the back of the neck allows each player to control their game paddle by rocking their partner back and forth.

Dylan, Ryan, Edwin and Ron are  bringing their new project txt2hold to Maker Faire Toronto. It transforms ephemeral text messages into attractive, permanent paper keepsakes. It was developed by the Brototypes, at the CFC Media Lab, TELUS Interactive Arts and Entertainment Program. txt2hold utilizes a magical combination of technology, graphic design and paper folding to help users generate a shoebox of mementos for the 21st century.

The lovely people at Grimalkin Press are donating the proceeds of all web sales to our faire for the next two days. So whaddya waiting for – go buy some of their sweet publications!
